Obituary of Sandra Marie Cieslinski

Spencerport, NY
Sunday, May 28th - Left us too soon after a brave fight with cancer.  Pre-deceased by her father Richard J. Cieslinski.  She is survived by her mother, Rose Marie (Ron) Wiater, step-mother, Patricia Cieslinski, sister Geri (Ed) Pehta, brothers Dan and Brian (Dawn Riley) Cieslinski, step-sisters Ellen (John) Stubbe, Susan (Darrell) Platz, Wendy Copenhagen, step-brother Geoff (Julia) Wiater, including many loving family members and many dear friends.
Sandy was born January 16, 1962 and grew up in Webster, NY.  She attended Klem Road Elementary School and was voted student of the year in 4th grade.  Sandy was very active in the Girl Scouts and loved gymnastics and art.  She graduated from R.L. Thomas High School June 1980.  She later attended Fingerlakes Community College where she earned her Associates Degree in Graphic Arts and Design.  Sandy went on to work at Nalge Corporation – now known as Thermofisher Scientific in Penfield, NY where she spent the next 30+ years in Quality Assurance.
Sandy purchased her first house on Hamlin Street in the city of Rochester and later moved to Eldora Drive in Gates where she resided for 14 years.  She was an expert decorator both inside and outside of her home.  Sandy was an avid gardener and a lover of dogs – all dogs, but especially Niles, her greatest companion.  She took care of him during his illness right until his passing, just prior to her cancer diagnosis.  He meant the world to her and she was counting on him for her own support.  When esophageal cancer was diagnosed in June 2016 – Sandy’s life was drastically and forever changed. She talked to her mother every day to check in.  When she lost her ability to communicate with family and friends, it was heartbreaking for her.
Her family meant everything to her, especially her niece Trisha, and nephews Mike, Chris, Steve and Sam. She was able to meet and hold her first great nephew, Bryson, shortly before her passing. She was very close to her aunts and uncles and they were close to her. She was a very kind, generous and thoughtful person – easily made life-long friends and it would not be uncommon to receive a card with a scratch off, maybe a book of stamps, or a gift card from Sandy– just because. Sandy also loved to go to the casinos, and never missed a chance to take a casino bus trip with her family members.  She loved country music and her favorite artist was George Strait.
Her father, having served in the military left his mark on Sandy and she had a special place in her heart for the service men and women who served and continue to serve and protect us.  She flew the American flag proudly outside of her home and ribbons on her trees in remembrance of those who lost their lives.  She was a true patriot and it is ironic that God took her over the Memorial Day weekend.
Sandy will be sadly missed and forever remembered by everyone.  We are sure everyone who knew her learned something from her and have fond memories of her.
