I would like to apologize for not being able to get up and speak about Jeff at his funeral service. At the time, I was not capable of stating one word to describe Jeff, without falling to pieces.
Allow me to start by saying....Ah Yes, Good evening !
Jeff Miles was so many things to so many people. The Jeff I knew and the connections that I shared with him evolved over our lifetime. Or, as Jeff would casually inform me, since Sept of 1975. We used to draw dinosaurs and super heroes growing up in grade school. It's no wonder we went to see the movie Jurassic Park and all of our comic book character movies as adults. We even took a day off work one time to go see the new Batman movie. I think we may have done that more than once?
Jeff had an incredible memory, almost "Rainman-like".. He would tell me all of the things we did and said together over the years in great detail. Jeff never forgot my birthday. I would receive a Clint Eastwood card every year in the mail. He was a loyal friend that would see past anyones character flaws. It was an honor to be his close friend.
Jeff was an avid reader. It was amazing to hear him talk about his latest book or research topic of interest.
The man was very shy...he would never want the spotlight. He was happy just hanging out in the background. That later became his niche' as a musician when he applied all of these traits to become one of the best rhythm guitarists around. However, he did not think so, but that just made him research, practice, study, read, memorize and dedicate himself even more to learning how to play. His precision and his ear for music was something I admired & to watch him apply of these traits to a chosen song was amazing.
We got to see our most timeless guitar legends together. It was Jeff that made sure we got tickets to see Jimmy Page. It was Jeff that made sure we got tickets to see Robert Plant. Jeff would always answer his phone with Robert Plants most memorable saying "ah yes, good evening".. We made sure we got to see Eddie Van Halen & Stevie Ray Vaughn..Lets not forget Pink Floyd. There are too many others to list. Unfortunately, I would need that "Rainman" right now to tell me all of the countless other shows we saw together and the things we did from 1975 to now. But we saw the most important ones and I will never forget those.
And in his passing, he has once again taught me something. "Never take anything for grantite"(LOL) He studied rocks in college...And as far as Gene Simmons' singing, its a good thing he can act,huh Jeff?
We would be laughing right now.. hysterically.
The most lasting impression I would like to share about Jeff Miles, dates back to 1986. We are graduating high school. Jeff wrote to me and I quote..." Scott,my memories with you are forever carved into my life, friends forever" Jeff... Well Jeffrey E. Miles, guess what buddy? Those memories indeed, are forever carved into my life too. I will never forget you. You know I love ya Klinns and I hope we see each other one day.
Your friend forever

Jeff was a great guy, so much fun to hang with. So talented when it came to music, a quiet, genuine, sincere man. We spent many a night dancing along to him jamming with his band, or playing darts and trivial pursuit ( Einstein & Einstein Jr - as Mo would say) over Jim Beam & Cokes. Our sympathy to all his friends and family at this time. A heart breaking loss.
