Rick, I cannot imagine your pain. I can only say that with God's help you will survive this. You are a strong man with MANY loving friends and 2 awesome children that love you. You will be separated only briefly by this earthly life. Peace and strength.

I will always hold dear all the wonderful times we shared in laughter, walking thru Highland Park, and the endless talks about our children and family. Rick, Morgan and Matt meant the world to her. Karen was a true professional at work. She was kind, fair and supportive. I will miss her very much. She will always be my forever friend

I am one of the Highland 'old timers'. many of my memories of my years there include Karen. she held such a responsible position with style and grace, making it look easy. She managed to be efficient and professional in her competent and unassuming way that brought such warmth and friendliness to her department. She put everyone at ease. she loved her family and was a true role model of a woman who knew how to balance career and family. She richly deserves to be at peace.

Karen and I spent lots of time chatting about our kids, who were the same ages, when she worked at Highland. We had a lot of laughs. She was the sweetest and kindest person. Glad you are at peace. Rick, Morgan and Matt, you are in my prayers at this difficult time.

I worked with Karen at HH from 2004 until 2012. This news had flooded my mind with memories from that time, that I would not have recalled without this news. She was such a lovely woman. I have little reminders of her from things she had given me during the time we worked together- she dug up lots of Lily of the Valley from her garden for me to spread into my gardens, and an extra bunt cake pan (that I still have and use), part of my wedding gift was a rolling pin... She and I considered her my "Work mom" -as I first started working with her when I was a recent college graduate. I didn't realize how many lovely memories I had of my time knowing her, until I really started thinking back to those 8 years we worked together. It was wonderful getting to know her life through downtime/ lunch chats, seeing photos of her children & niece (having them visit the office), and eating lovely treats she would bake and bring in to share... The loss is heavy and she will be very missed-- so I am praying especially for you- Rick, Morgan & Matt. May this trial make each of you stronger in every way, with every day that you have before you. May God's peace be with each of you, and fill in the gaps that Karen's passing has left on your lives.

I met Karen back in 2009 at the Breast Cancer walk and later worked with her in 2012. She had a kind heart and always had a smile on her face. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family during this time.

I was shocked and saddened when I learned of the passing of my friend and mentor, Karen. We were first introduced when I started my job at Highland and she was assigned to me as my mentor. She was a wealth of knowledge and always there for support and quick to help me as I acclimated into my new position. After I left, we kept in touch until I moved out of town. My thoughts and sympathy go out to her family and close friends. That friendly face and beautiful smile will truly be missed by all that knew her. Peace be with you my friend.
