Obituary of David L. Everhart

David “Dave” Everhart

SPENCERPORT - Passed away on January 30, 2024. Predeceased by his parents, Harold and Florence; and best friend and brother, Harold “Skip” Everhart. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Dorothy (Dottie) Everhart; his sister, Dolores (Dee) Storm; his children, Greg (Mary), Sherry (James) Bigelow; his grandchildren, Jackson, Lily, Aubrey, and Mackenzie; and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Dave was born July 20, 1949 in South Dayton, NY.  A proud veteran who bravely served his country in Vietnam. He met his wife Dottie at SUNY Oswego. They were married on August 19, 1972 and moved to Spencerport where Dave and Dottie poured their hearts into building a home and they filled it with love and laughter.

To those who knew him best, Dave was affectionately known as a "mad scientist," a title earned through his insatiable curiosity, remarkable tinkering skills, and the ability to fix just about anything, except Barbie sunglasses (nobody can fix them). He was an R & D Engineering Technician at Xerox where he retired in 2011.

His mischievous antics and playful pranks earned him a reputation as the life of the party, endearing him to all who crossed his path. He had a smile that would light up a room and a big laugh to go with it. He was a true delight to be around. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and woodworking. Perhaps his greatest joy came from being surrounded by family, especially spending time with his four grandchildren.

Calling hours will be on Friday, February 2, 2024 from 4-7 pm at Walker Brothers Funeral Home (15 West Ave. Spencerport, NY 14559). The burial is on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 10 am at Parma Corners Cemetery. The celebration of life service is at 11:30 am on Saturday at Ogden Presbyterian Church (2400 S Union St. Spencerport, NY 14559) with lunch immediately following the service.

Dave can be honored by the gift of Flowers, or by donations to either the Ogden Presbyterian Church or the Rochester Honor Flight (PO Box 23581 Rochester, NY 14692).
