Obituary of Donald Callene

Callene, Donald L. Spencerport: May 27, 2016 at age 86. He is survived by his sister, Helen Trotter; nieces & nephew, Ellen (Tom) Castiglione, Diane (Jeff) Wood, Richard (Kim) Callene; many other nieces & nephews. Donald was a Korean War Army Veteran. He was a retired Mail Carrier from the US Postal Service in Spencerport. Donald, as a child loved to take appliances apart and put them back together, like clocks and toasters. As time went on he liked working on cars. In his teenage years Donald got a job at a Catholic Cemetery. He later graduated from Spencerport High School. As a family they spent time at their cottage in Cape Vincent. Donald was a quiet person and read the local newspaper everyday, he was very interested in what was going on, and passed on his opinion of some of the stories that he was not happy about. Donald was a Korean War Army Veteran, and enjoyed his time being with other veterans at the American Legion where he was a member for 43 years. A fun place Donald like to go was Finger Lakes Casino & Race Track and enjoyed lottery ticket scratch-offs. Donald will be missed by family and friends may he rest in peace. Donald's visitation will be on Friday from 10 am - 12 pm in the funeral home, 15 West Ave. Spencerport. Interment with Military Honor Guard to follow at 12:30 pm at Fairfield Cemetery 330 S. Union St. Spencerport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Spencerport American Legion, 691 Trimmer Rd. Spencerport, NY 14559 in Donald's Memory.
