Born on March 24, 1929 in Rochester, NY to Thomas Lievense and Mary (Gerew) he then grew up on Hawkers Farm in Bergen, NY, where the love of farming began. Ed’s siblings are Pauline Cummings (Deceased), Half Siblings: Thomas Lievense, Sharon Lievense and Janet Lievense (David) Flaherty. He met the love of his life, Elizabeth Pimm, in April 1949. Their first date was to Elizabeth’s Senior Prom. They were engaged shortly thereafter and married on October 8, 1949. Edward was a Machinist in the Tool & Die department at Delco Products for 42 years. During this time he also worked in their Model Shop, where he helped design the flip headlights for the Bonneville line in the 1960’s. He also was a part time crop farmer. Edward and Elizabeth were married for 67 years. They were married at her family home in Churchville in 1949. Through their loving marriage, six children were produced. Richard, Helen, Linda, Donald, Dale & Dianne. Ed’s children gave him numerous grandchildren, Richard and Donna's children, Darrell (Stacey) Lievense (Braden, Owen, and Nolan) and Beth Ann Lievense. Helen Pimm's children, Mark Pimm (Isabella) and Kevin Pimm. Linda and Lawrence Mobilio's children, Heather (James) Humphrey (Collin & Duncan) and Korey (Sarah) Mobilio (Samuel). Donald Lievense's children, Kristi Lievense (Nathan & Tyler Hazzard) and Jessica Lievense. Dale Lievense (no children). Dianne (Jonathan) Thomas (fuzzy grandcats, Mason, Samuel, Sybil and Terra). Edward retired from Delco Products in 1987 after breaking his hip and from complications of rheumatoid and osteo-arthritis. He and Elizabeth wintered in Fairhope, Alabama for 20 years until 2010, when they could no longer travel out of state for long stretches of time due to changes in his Health Insurance. He was an avid machinist and created his own metal shop in his garage at home including a Bridgeport Mill and a small jeweler’s lathe. He and Elizabeth round and square danced weekly until he broke his hip in 1987. He enjoyed road trips because you never got lost….you just enjoyed a different way home. He helped his youngest son with his lawn care business for many years until he could no longer safely get on and off the John Deere mower by himself. Edward enjoyed the Lawrence Welk Show and his champagne bubbles. He also enjoyed watching documentaries about the wars (WWI to current), Gold Rush and Alaska the Final Frontier, as well as several other shows on the History Channel. He never wanted to grow old; if you asked him, he would always say he was 29. It was hard to take a picture of him without him having a goofy grin or a funny face. He was fun-loving and adventurous, visiting 23 states and Canada. Ed never met a stranger that he didn’t turn into a friend. Through his example, he taught his children that hard work would never kill you and if you do it right the first time, you don’t have to do it twice and if you did it his way, you wouldn’t get yelled at. All his children remember that while teaching them to drive he made them back up the neighbor’s long driveway, because any idiot can drive forward, it takes a skilled driver to drive backwards.
