Obituary of Arthur F. Parmele
Chili: November 10, 2019. Art is predeceased by his parents, Arthur & Dorothy Parmele and his brother Edward Parmele. He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie Parmele; daughter, Laura (Ben) Murphy; grandchildren, Emerson Murphy & Drew Murphy; siblings, Kathleen Thomas, Pat (Niel) Farnsworth, Sharon (Charlie) DeRuyter & Robert Parmele; sister-in-law, Linda Parmele; several nieces, nephews, cousins & dear friends.
Art’s life story will be shared during his visitation, Saturday, November 16th, 10 AM – 12 PM at the funeral home, 15 West Avenue, Spencerport, NY. Art’s Life Celebration Service will immediately follow his visitation, 12 PM at the funeral home. His interment will be private. In lieu of flower’s donations may be sent to American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049 in his memory.
Art was born in Canandaigua, NY on December 7, 1947. He grew up in the town of Clifton Springs and was the eldest of 6 kids. As a teen, roughly age 16, his love for bowling started and he began working at Sanbowl Lanes. After graduating from high school, he went on to join the Air Force. His love for bowling continued throughout his life as he bowled many perfect games and 700 series.
In October of 1973, he married Rosemarie and they went on to have their daughter, Laura in October 1977. When Rose was in labor he wasn’t going to come into the delivery room, then when it was time, there he was all suited up with scrubs on and ready to witness the birth of his baby girl.
He managed Wally’s Pub in Canandaigua which was owned by a good friend of his, Rick Binder. Art loved to golf too. He enjoyed walking the courses but if Laura would join him he would rent a cart just so she could drive. He was an avid reader, he enjoyed American History and has a library of hundreds of books. He never wanted a kindle to read, always preferred a hardcover book.
Art’s most recent job was with Arc of Ontario County where he enjoyed working with and taking care of the residents. The residents really loved him too. He always had some funny stories about work.
One of the most prideful things in Art’s life was being called “Papa” by his grandchildren, Emerson & Drew. They were the source of joy and happiness for him. Emerson says she loved how silly her papa was. They loved his cooking and of course mac & cheese was the favorite.
Art will be remembered as a quiet, compassionate, giving, caring man with a great sense of humor and a love for his family that is second to none. He was a big kid at heart, supportive, reliable and always there for others. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
