Sarah was born in Rochester, NY March 23, 1958. Her parents John & Rosemary Mattern, raised their 2 children on Hubbard Dr. in N. Chili.
In her youthful years, Sarah first took up skiing at her family's Frost Ridge Campground in LeRoy, NY. At the young age of 8, Sarah received her very first rabbit. This began a lifelong love affair with pet rabbits and all things bunny and rabbit related.
Sarah attended and then graduated from CC High School in 1976. During those years, her fun-loving and spirited personality began to blossom. After high school, Sarah went on to work at Lithochrome, and Rochester Int'l Airport.
At a party in 1978, Sarah met Martin Michaels. They would go on to become husband and wife, parents, and grandparents. They married on July 24, 1982, followed by 2 children, and later, 3 grandchildren.
Sarah wore many hats. She was a stay at home mom, raising Ashley & Shannon while running Michael’s Electric. The only thing she loved more than being a mother was becoming a grandmother and spending precious moments with her granddaughters. When they weren't working and raising their kids, Sarah and Marty would hit the road, hopping on Marty’s Harley-Davidson looking for their next adventure together.
Sarah loved music, especially classic and hard rock. She was the life of the party; social, kind, caring, and reliable. Sarah had a large circle of friends and family who loved her and she will fondly be remembered as having the most beautiful smile.
