Obituary of Virginia Ann Stockham

Virginia Ann “Ginny” Stockham, nee Parmele, 88, of Spencerport, passed away at home on October 30, 2020. A 1950 graduate of Brockport High School, she was the last descendant of the Parmele family to still reside on the old Parmele Tract in Ogden. She retired in 1992 as a library aide in the Brockport Central School District. She was predeceased by her parents, Irving and Eunice Parmele; her husband of 48 years, Ralph Stockham; her daughter Deborah Ferguson; and her brother Donald Parmele of Warsaw, NY.

She is survived by her son Jeffrey and daughter-in-law Victoria of Syracuse, NY; grandson Jason; step-grandchildren Alison and Kevin; sister-in-law Audrey Parmele; beloved "sister" Suzi King; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; many cherished friends, especially “Team Ginny”—her caregivers Teresa Fletcher, Cheri Warner, and Debbi Hill—and her beloved kitty Molly.

Ginny was known by all as a loving wife and mother, a kind and caring friend, and a cherished member of the Brockport Schools family who loved every child who used the Ginther School Media Center as if they were her own. Her love for animals, from her childhood pets Johnny the turkey and her sheep Skippy and Frisky, to her bunny Leo Lop, her poodle Fifi, and her cats Calico, Fluffy, and Molly, was a source of joy for her, her friends, and her family. Her love of music, and her never-ending support and encouragement of her son’s musical career, was admired by all. She was a lifelong communicant of the Adams Basin United Methodist Church, where she and Ralph were married in 1951.

Calling hours will be Sunday, November 8, from 2 to 5pm, at Walker Brothers Funeral Home, 15 West Avenue, Spencerport, NY. Funeral ceremony will take place at 1PM on Monday, November 9, at Adams Basin United Methodist Church, 4292 Canal Road, Spencerport, with interment to follow at Fairfield Cemetery, 330 South Union Street, Spencerport.

Due to the pandemic, masks and proper social distancing will be required, and a maximum capacity of 50 will be observed at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Adams Basin United Methodist Church.
