When I think of my childhood, it includes Bonnie and John Erwin. We spent many vacations going to Cape Cod and Keuka lake with the the Erwin family over the years. Plus all the holidays our families spent together. John and I used to spend many hours sailing on Keuka Lake. Spending time with John was always full of laughter. He will be greatly missed. I first met John on my first film assignment to improve the Intermediate Film for Motion Picture films at Kodak. John went out of his way to help me be successful. He was so knowledgeable and willing to share his knowledge with others so they could be successful. We worked on many other film projects throughout my career. I am so glad I had the opportunity to see him again when he returned to Rochester. Rest in peace, John! Maryann Mendel

Classes with John were some of the brightest and most fun moments I had at the Selznick School. His incredible knowledge was matched by his enthusiasm and warmth towards every student. He was a marvelous teacher, and became a great friend. The last time I saw him was at the Eastman Museum’s Nitrate Picture Show. We snuck away from the Dryden Theater to enjoy a vegetarian lunch at Aladdin’s restaurant on Monroe, and he shared so many fun stories. My deepest condolences to his family & friends. I’m so very sorry for your loss, and I will always remember him. I’ll add photos of John with me (his student Heather Harkins) and with his Kodak colleague Darryl Jones.
