Obituary of Carlin Emery Pickering

Carlin peacefully graduated into Heaven on October 3, 2021, at age 84. Born January 1, 1937, in Vestal, NY. Predeceased by his parents, Norman H. Pickering Sr. & Myrtle (Deuel) Pickering; sisters, Jane (Stratton) Corey, Ruth Wakeman; brother, Norman H. Pickering Jr.  Survived by his wife, Sandra L. Pickering; children, Terry (Sandra) Pickering, Patty (Bill) Roushey; grandchildren, Daniel (Eve) Roushey, Michael Roushey, Katelyn Pickering, Taryn Pickering, Carly Pickering; brother-in-law, Richard Wakeman; sister-in-law, Janet Pickering; several nieces & nephews. 

 

Carlin started his carpenter career working for his dad building EJ homes. He continued carpenter work during the summers of his 30-year employment with IBM. After retiring from IBM, he started Pickering Builder business, he continued building and remodeling. He was partners in both Lawrence View Park and President of Oasis RV Park.  Carlin was an avid hunter, fisherman, bowler, loved his family, enjoyed traveling to many states and made many stained-glass pieces. He was a mentor and very giving of his time helping anyone who needed assistance. A longtime member of The Tracy Creek Memorial Church, serving as Trustee, Sunday School Teacher and Choir member. Carlin was a dedicated family man and led by example not only to his wife and children; but to those around him. The family is so grateful to the U of R Hospice, residents, and staff of Legacy at Parklands.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memory donations be made to Tracy Creek Memorial Church, 4 Knight Road, Vestal, NY 13850.

 

A memorial celebration service will be held at a later date.
