No words can express my deep sorrow on Christmas Day when I learned of your great loss. Joe was a big part of my childhood. He was always so kind and loving towards all of the kids in the neighborhood. He is now reaping his heavenly reward for his big heart and a life very well lived! I am so thankful that we reconnected three years ago. May God bless his very special family with consolation and peace. With love and my deepest sympathy, "Sis" (Stein) Walker

Good Day Susan. I just heard about Dad and read his obit. Oh what a guy to have as a friend. When in the Port he always made it important to check on me; you know because you also always checked in. He was the "salt of the earth", his earth because as a mason he was always digging in it.
He and Lloyd Schrader decided one year to go into business together doing mason work, especially building swimming pools. They opened a store in he Village and the first pool built was on Coleman Avenue for Joe and Shirley Fosmire.
There business venture was very successful for a few years, but the friendship between the two couples, Donna and Lloyd and Marilyn and Joe is a thing to mention. We vacationed in Pine Creek, Pa with the whole family and the Olson family. Also, one of the highlights of a Labor Day weekend was a fast trip to New York City to surprise friends that were celebrating their 15th anniversary. This was not a planned trip, but both Joe and Marilyn agreed to go late at night and know that "Grandma D" would be taking good care of the four children in their shared housing, That story was told many times as a tribute to Joe's family, especially his mother.
It is for sure after reading his obit that he loved life to the fullest and as I write this, on Lloyd Schrader's 91st birthday, I hope they are enjoying the heavens as well.
Love and Hugs to the whole DiDomenico family!!
Donna Schrader Gosnell

Two of my favorite people are walking together again :) Pat must be so excited!
I knew Joe before I knew any of his kids because of his friendship with my sister, Pat. Oh the days on Gillette Rd!
So many cherished memories of Joe in Spencerport and but even more in Port Charlotte over the years. Pat moved to Port Charlotte in '89. Joe wasn't far behind.
Pat's house was the spot for pool parties for any occasion, including Joe's birthday, Halloween, New Year's Eve, or just because! And the Portside Pub was the local hangout down here for so many people from our home town! What a hoot! Before I moved down permanently I would visit every year. There were some nights you could walk into the Portside and think you were at Diehl's! That's goin' back a ways, lol!
Steve and I were honored and so blessed to have been able to visit with Joe when he was still here and up and about. Thank you, Susan, for giving us the chance to enjoy reminiscing. You did so good, woman. Above and beyond. xoxo
And honestly, both of you could not have received a greater gift for Christmas than for him to be taken home.
(And he said God didn't like him! Pffft)
May the Lord bless and keep you, make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.

Thank you so much my Beastie Girl. You were a great support to me in my time of need and I know Joe was so happy to see you too. I remember the year I was trying to figure out where to have Joe's birthday party and was in a panic. Your sister Pat came through for me and a great time had by all at her house in Port Charlotte. Memories will not be forgotten. While it didn't feel like Christmas, it was an honor to spend the month of Dec with my Dad, many conversations happy, sad, and bittersweet!

His last conversation was with Joe Dominick AKA Hose, Skunk, lol. One of the last things Dad said to me was " Don't have any regrets Susan and when the "Big" guy puts his arm around your shoulders, you can not refuse. :-). He definitely went in peace with himself and the "Big" guy, our Lord
