Obituary of Thelma Yanney

Churchville: Wednesday March 2, 2011 at the age of 84. Thelma is survived by her daughter, Susan (Chris Baron) Merriam; grandson, Benjamin D. Merriam; her siblings, Dr. David R. (Janet) Cross & Lois (Bill) Yanney; many nieces and nephews. Thelma was born April 27, 1926 in Perry, NY. She was a member of Brick Presbyterian Church in Perry, NY. She loved animals "especially her cats," which explains her donating on and off for years to Lollypop Farm. She loved music of all kinds, but specifically loved Opera. She also loved theater and tap dancing. Thelma would surround herself with music when being a homebody. Thelma started her working career at Harts Insurance Company in Perry, NY. She would best be remembered as a full time Dance Instructor for over 50 years. Thelma had her dance studio in the basement of her home at times. Taught dance in various places, including Perry, NY, Mt. Morris (being her largest studio), LeRoy, Avon and Warsaw. She finally retired as a bookkeeper for Beltone Hearing Aid Co., in Rochester, NY in 1993. She would best be described by her daughter Susan, as a dreamer! She always loved talking about what and how she could make things better; just a very kind soul. Thelma's visitation will be held Sunday 1 - 4 PM at the Funeral Home 21 S. Main Street, Churchville, NY 14428, where a Memorial Service will follow immediately at 4:00PM.
