Albert was born October 26, 1924, and grew up in Churchville-Chili, NY. His parents were Victor and Marie Carver. His parents worked in greenhouse groves and Victor worked for General Railway Signal. He had a sister named, Edna Trumeter. When growing up in Chili, Victor lived with his grandfather during the school year on week days and helped work on the golf course in Churchville. He even drove a lawn mower into the pond on the golf course. While he was a young boy he had his tonsils taken out right on the dining room table. While he was a senior in high school, he played a prank, and disassembled local outhouses and reassembled them on the roof of the school painting and arranging them like a village. While he was a teen, he participated in sports, and he went to barn dances in the basements of restaurants. Albert received a scholarship and went to Penn State for Soccer. While in college, he worked at a soda fountain (shop).
Albert left college to enter WWII as a radioman, stationed in Georgia. They spent time off in the Sea Islands and ate fresh seafood by the buckets full. He was classified as 4H, but had several leg surgeries so he could serve. He also worked as a live in lifeguard at Hamlin Beach. He broke ground at the first Greece YMCA. He worked at Taylor Instruments as an engineer and a supervisor, and then retired from Almold Inc.
Albert's sister, Edna was a nurse with Sally, and that's how they met. Then he married Sally Ann Tompkins, by Reverend Karrison at a Methodist Church in Greece. They had a baby, in 1957, they named her Cristel. Then they lived on Eastland & Rye Rd, in Greece, NY. The family took their vacations to the 1000 Islands, the Bahamas, and the 4th Lake, Adirondacks. Albert got to see the Lake Placid Olympics, and slept in his friend's truck. He had a boat and docked it on the Genesee River. He played golf, swam and loved to play cards.
Albert's favorites were the Syracuse Orangemen, the Penn State Nittany Lions and Buffalo Bills. He loved Big Band music and jazz, he loved all sports on tv, and the moon cycles.
The best way to describe Albert is that he was the happiest, most easy going man ever, so appreciative, positive and un conditionally loving. Albert will be dearly missed by all.
