Obituary of John Hitter

On Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at the age of 59, after a brief but fierce battle with cancer and with his family and close friends by his side. John was predeceased by his parents, Bill & Kay Hitter and his In-laws, Fred & Penny Curtiss. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Beth A. Hitter (Curtiss); his daughters, Kimberly (Bobby) Devlin and Lori (Josh) Fregoe; his grandsons, Chesney, Logan and Leland Fregoe; his siblings, Ron (Nancy) Hitter and Cheryl Hitter; sister-in-law, Barb (John) Schambre; several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Nutmeg. John's visitation will be held on Saturday 4 - 7 PM at the funeral home, 21 South Main Street, Churchville, NY 14428. John's Funeral Service will be celebrated on Monday, September 3, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the First Congregational Church of Riga (Riga Church), 7027 Chili Riga Center Road, Churchville, NY 14428. Interment Riga Cemetery. Those wishing to send expressions of sympathy, please consider the Riga Church in John's memory. John was born on January 14, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan. His parents were, Bill and Kay Hitter, and his brother and sister were, Ron (Nancy) and Cheryl Hitter. John grew up in Livonia, Michigan. His childhood interests were model airplanes, the flying club of Detroit Metro Airplane. He graduated and went to college and received his Masters in business and a BS in Engineering. He then met Beth A. Curtiss (his future wife) thru mutual best friends. They got married at St. Paul's UCC in Warren, Michigan. They had two daughters, Kimberly (Bobby) Devlin & Lori (Josh) Fregoe. His extended family was, grandsons, Chesney, Logan and Leland. He had his beloved dog, Nutmeg, and he also had 4 beloved granddogs, Lily, Lona, Havok and Haley, 2 grandcats, Bear and Mr. Jinx. John always loved airplanes and taking care of his yard. He became a member of the Lyons Club in Scottsville. He was a former volunteer fire fighter in Scottsville. John always had a joke to tell. John will be greatly missed by all.
