Obituary of Rita Kalwas

Churchville: Rita passed away Friday, September 21 at age 93. She is predeceased by her husband, Lincoln L. Kalwas; brothers, Francis & Gregory Kraus. Survived by her children, Marilyn (Russell) Allen, Jill A. (David C.) O'Mara, Laurie J. (John Treadway) Kalwas; grandchildren, Mikaela (Larry) Wilk, Seana O'Mara, Ryan (Ashley) O'Mara, Christopher Jones, Bethany Jones; great-grandchild Olivia Wilk. No prior calling hours. A memorial service for Rita will be held Saturday, October 20 at 10 AM at the Lutheran Church of the Incarnate Word, 597 East Avenue, Rochester, NY. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Rita's memory to the American Diabetes Association, 160 Allens Creek Rd, Rochester, NY 14610 Rita often participated in the Prayer Chain, Wellness, SPIRIT, visited the elderly, and was a communion preparer. She leaves behind dear friend BJ Connors, and was predeceased by her friends, Gerry Peath and Dora Sams. She was active in the Chapin Chapter of the YWCA, and Homemakers Bowling League at Northside Lanes. She was a homemaker and most enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved the annual Adirondack family vacations. Rita's hobbies included gardening, bowling, reading, and watching CSI shows on television, but her family gave her the most enjoyment in life. Family and friends would best describe Rita as loving and caring. She will be missed by all who knew her.
