Obituary of Nadine McCormick

On Tuesday October 18, 2011 at the age of 59, with her family by her side. Nadine is survived by her husband, Matthew J. McCormick; her parents, William and Josephine Barker; children, Dina Bridget (Allan) Nowak (Weingartner), Lawrence Patrick (Kim) Weingartner; her grandchildren and the center of her universe, Ashlee Nichole and Jonathan Allan Nowak, Tyler Lawrence Weingartner; siblings, Susan (Phil) Jones, Jo Ann Barker; her niece Julie Barker and her son Julian. Nadine was born on October 9, 1952 in N. Bellmore Long Island, NY, where she lived her early years as a child. She later graduated from Wellington C. Mepham High school in Bellmore, NY in 1970. Continued her education at Nassau Community College. Nadine would then continue her life in Port Jervis, NY where she raised her family. Years past, and life brought her to Churchville, NY in 1987, where she celebrated New Year's Eve on cardboard boxes in her new home with Dina and Larry. In 1995ish Nadine met Matthew J. McCormick. Matt admits to running from Nadine, in the beginning, because she was in sales and would frequently visit his place of employment. In 1999 on May 15th, Matt and Nadine were married. Nadine enjoyed many things in life. Her flower gardens and plants in her home were some of her favorites. Matt on the other hand, was guilty, to his surprise, of watering a fake plant for a month. Nadine's passion and center of her universe where her grandchildren! Favorite memories of this subject are the "beam pocket at Mimma's house," which is a very small space in her kitchen where she found a figurine one of her grandchildren was able to hide on occasion. Nadine immediately turned into a place she would hide treats! When her grandchildren would arrive, they would RUN to find their treat. Another were the dinner dates, once a week with her granddaughter Ashlee and "Mimma," what Ashlee's name was for her grandma back then and still today. This quick became a tradition, "dinner with Mimma," with all the grandchildren to follow. Tradition! Mimma never missed and went to EVERYTHING that had to do with her babies! Sporting events, concerts, whatever it was she was there! Including this past Baseball season's opening day for Avon Little League, for grandson Jonathan. Nadine worked as a purchasing agent for the Genesee Brewery in Rochester, NY for the past 12 years. To say, Nadine made friends would be an understatement. Including and especially, Fran Fox, Cathy McDonald, Jim Barber, Sharon and Bill Van Epps and all of her co-workers and dear friends at Genesee Brewery. How her family best describes her, "as beautiful on the outside as on the inside." Her warmth and hospitality carried over to everything she did, (i.e.) "Parties on the patio" & "Breakfast for 8 on opening day of Deer Season." Except when you tried to help! If you were brave enough to try and help with cooking, cleaning up etc., you may have lost an arm! In November of 2010, 11 months ago, Nadine was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of Brain Cancer. Shortly after this diagnosis, is when and only when Nadine allowed help with all of the things she so enjoyed doing by herself! Nadine will always be loved, missed and never forgotten and will always be remembered for her give, give, give approach to life. Nadine's visitation will be held Friday 2-4 & 7-9PM at the funeral home, 21 S. Main Street, Churchville, NY 14428. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Saturday at St. Vincent DePaul Church, 11 N. Main Street, Churchville. Interment Creekside Cemetery.
