Obituary of Michael Quinn
Passed away at his home on Sunday, June 23, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He fought a courageous battle against cancer with dignity and strength. Mike was born to Frank & Muriel (McGovern) Quinn on April 26, 1948 in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. His family moved to the United States when he was 6 years old. Mike spent the rest of his formative years in Niagara Falls, NY. He graduated from Bishop Duffy High School & Bryant and Stratton Business Institute. Mike joined the Navy during the Vietnam War and served honorably aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Intrepid as a computer operator. After his military service, he married Linda (Dojka) on January 19, 1973 and they made their home in Spencerport, NY. Mike continued his career in Information Technology in the Rochester area for the next 35 years. He especially enjoyed the art of photography, a variety of music with Brazilian jazz, a favorite, loved to travel, was a great cook and took pride in his home and gardens. He served on the board of the Spencerport Credit Union for 13 years. Mike had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for his Irish wit. Besides his parents, Mike was predeceased by his infant sister. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 40 years, Linda; and his special cousins, Kathleen Randall, Tim Giesenhoff and Tricia (Wayne) Bleich; he also leaves his brothers and sisters-in-law, Stephen Dojka, Mary Martha (Steve) Evert, Fred (Cindy) Dojka, Anthony Dojka, & John (Maria) Dojka; nieces, Marcy Cox & Elissa Dojka; a nephew, Ryan Dojka; and a grandniece and grandnephew, Stephanie & Seth Cox.
Calling hours will be 3-7 PM on Wednesday, June 26 at the funeral home, 15 West Ave, Spencerport. Mike's memorial service will be 11 AM on Saturday, June 29 at the Historic Holy Trinity, 1419 Falls St, Niagara Falls, NY followed by burial at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Lewiston, NY. Donations in Mike's memory may be made to the Historic Holy Trinity Fund.
