Obituary of Ronald Terpening

Terpening, Ronald F. Chili: June 25, 2013. Predeceased by his parents, Harold & Mildred Terpening; sisters, Bette Ann Terpening & Kathryn Barnes; brother, James Terpening. Survived by his loving wife, Marilyn (Tomb) Terpening; children, Heidianna (Scott Myers), Erik Anders; sister, Shirley Lamphere; brother, Robert (Joyce) Terpening; sister-in-law, Pam Terpening; many nieces, nephews & cousins. Ronald worked in the Gates Chili School District for 50 years in music. At a young age, Ron was drawn to music. This led to him to achieve a Bachelors degree in Music Education, during this time he became a member of the Delta Kappa Theta Fraternity. Ronald was a trombonist, serving active duty with the 7th Army Symphony Orchester & a member of the Pete Matina Band for 38 years. He played trombone in the Roberts Wesleyan college - Community Orchestra & an Accompanist for 13 year in the Roberts Wesleyan College Theatre. Ron was a member of the National Association of Music Educators, New York State School Music Association and the Rochester Musicians' Association, Local 66 of the American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada. Ron was also a member of the New York State Teachers' Retirement System & Tri-M Music Honor Society. He served the Scandanavian Lucia Fest Pianist. He taught private piano and performed at numerous wedding celebrations and funerals. In addition to these he was a Soloist, Tenor & later on a Baritone. Ron's hobbies were vegetable gardening , artist, gourmet chef, baker & animal lover. He enjoyed sewing, so much so that he could be consider a tailor. Lastly, Ron enjoyed being a cake decorator, baker & floral arranger. Ronald's visitation will be held 2-4 & 7-9 on Sunday at Bartolomeo & Perotto Funeral Home, 1411 Vintage Lane in Greece. His memorial service will be celebrated 2PM on Sunday, July 7th at Downtown United Presbyterian Church, 121 N. Fitzhugh St, Rochester NY 14614. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Marilyn Terpening to establish a musical scholarship in Ronald's memory.
