Thought it might get easier on Fathers Day as the years pass but still miss my Dad quite a bit. Hope the fishing is good in heaven & he always wins in Shanghai. I'm pretty sure he is smiling when he looks at what he started with a gal named Boots, a decent job in the "big city" and four kids before he was 33 years old.
Not too bad for a farm kid from Penn Yan

It will be one year on Sunday since you went to your family up above. There is not a day that goes by that you are not thought of, missed and very much loved. Truely the most amazing man in my life. You were always there for me in a pinch. You always knew the answers and the remedies must be from all the experiance and knowledge you held.
Shanghi is not the same without you. And yes as you know, no one can get "ZERO'S" like you did. Even though your not here physically I know you are here with us always.
Thank you for all the support and guienence you have given. The smiles and laughs, but most of all thank you for the amazing man you are and the knowledge of how to be a better person in life itself. All of these are in a very, very treasured special place in my heart where I hold you dearly.
I love you and miss you always.
Your forever Daughter-in-law. :)

Some people brighten up our lives even when they're gone and Dad is still such a part of us and our days, even as we mark the one year anniversary of losing him. Every day we see Chet with us, sitting off to the side smiling because his family meant so much to him. In his spot for Friday night cards, taking the card we wanted, just on speculation. We feel him when we fix the car and start a project at the house. He reminds us that he's there with us by a jumping fish, a singing bird, a found item or a story retold for the fifteenth time. We feel him in our tears and in our laughter. We see him in our minds and memories. I can't think of a day where we don't say "Remember when Dad took us..." or "Dad would know what to do" or "Dad would have a blast doing this". We miss you Chet, we love you so much. You are still such an important part of who we are. You are such an big light in our lives.

Dad, one year now since you have gone, still miss your smile and stories. Life moves on for us all though even as we lose those we love the most along the way. Just know that you are missed and still are in eeveryone's heart that your life touched, especially your grandkids. Hope the fishing is great and your chain is full of those Bridgebrook trout. You were the best Dad I could have asked for, Gods Speed.

I will never forget Chet as my customer and friend. As his barber, we shared so many discussions about his lifetime memories. Chets many talents amazed me; the way he could fix anything, especially juke boxes. What a talent! He even restored my fathers old barber pole to perfection. A larger than life man who thought of others first. I miss Chet.

I will never forget grandpa. There are so many words to describe him. He was a hard worker and a man who really loved his family. I will miss him very much and I will never forget him. I'm very glad to have spent the time with him that I did because I enjoyed every thing we did together. He was a great man and if I had to think of one word to describe him, that word would be love. He loved his family very much and he was always there for who ever needed help. There are so many memories and stories he told and that we all shared that I will never forget. I'm just happy to have had the privilege to know him and I know him and his stories will live on.

Often times the most extraordinary men wear ordinary clothes and live ordinary lives. Chet Kucmerowski is one of those men. His titles were not royal but he proudly wore the names "Father, Husband, Brother, Friend". If I were to revise my Websters, I would place a picture of Chet next to each of those words.
Every day his legacy shines brightly through his children and grandchildren.
And anyone lucky enough to sit with him and listen to his stories was blessed. We love and miss him. Today (and every day to follow) we honor him.

My Dad was incredible man who was always willing to take on a job or help out a family member or friend who needed it. He took care of so many people and touched so many lives. He made a simple car ride so much fun with his stories and memories.
He could sit down anywhere and have a conversation and make a friend. He spent time with us growing up and taught us how to do just about anything. He really was the best Dad a person could have and we will remember him and miss him every day.

Well, here is a story from today.. cause as you might figure these life events always bring us all a little closer, thank you Dad.
Mom had some old Dundee papers she wanted to get back to two friends from school. Mr & Mrs Perkins (Luther & Lucy) have known dad all his life, Lucy was Dad's neighbor, and Luther went from K - 12 with him. We talked for quite awhile about Class of 1946, getting older and wiser, and how hard it is losing those we care so much about. Luther probably summed it up best with this statement "This one is pretty hard, your Dad was one of the "good guys" and we never want them to go" He told me the thing he remembered most about Chet was how easy he was to talk to, even though you only saw him once a year it was like he was your next-door neighbor.
They had nothing but kind things to say about dad, and will be putting his Obituary notice in the Dundee paper (Lucy insisted). They recently lost their son to cancer, at age 58. So they know how hard it is to lose those closest to us. They wish all of Chet's friends & family the best and pray we will all move by this loss with as easy time as possible, but were also saddened themselves that the world had one less "good guy" in it.

There are two things that I fondly remember about Uncle Chet. The first being the softball games that Chet, Ted and all the men would play every year as part of the family reunion up on the farm. They always seemed to really be enjoying themselves as a family who only came together once a year just to have fun. The second was the first time when I really sat down long enough to get to know him and realized his depth of knowledge and detail he had about almost everything – he was inspiring.

Rest in peace Uncle Chet. You have always been there for us, cheering us on and cheering us up with your stories. I remember after one of his surgeries back in the 1990's, Uncle Chet really wanted to live long enough to see if Y2K would cause all the world's computers to crash! He lasted longer than he ever thought he would back then, and he gave us all a lot of memories to cherish. My love and prayers go out to my family in NY. Wish I could give you all a hug.xxooxxoo
