Obituary of Diane Baker

Diane Marie Baker of Churchville, NY died peacefully in the evening of Friday, December 13, 2013 at Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born on May 21, 1946 in Batavia, NY to Royal Perrin (deceased) & Jean Perrin of Avon, NY. Diane is also survived by her husband, Richard D. Baker; her son, Matthew Baker and his wife, Daisy; two grandchildren, Jade & Josephine; her daughter, Jenny Baker; her sisters, Patty Sims & Sandy Berube and her husband Paul; her brothers & sisters-in-law, Audrey & Clyde Embling, Mae and Larry Wheeler, Arnold and Carol Baker and Stephen Baker. Visiting hours are Wednesday, December 18 from 2-4 P.M. at the funeral home, 21 S. Main St, Churchville, with Diane's funeral service immediately following there at 4 PM. Relatives and friends are welcome to a reception following services. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that in Diane's memory, donations be sent to either of the two organizations that helped Diane during her fight against cancer: Pluta Cancer Center, 125 Red Creek Dr, Rochester, NY 14623, or Lifetime Care Hospice/Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center, 3111 South Winton Road, Rochester, NY 14623. Diane M. Baker was born in St. Jerome's Hospital in Batavia, NY on May 21, 1946. She was the second child of Royal and Jean Perrin, with sisters Patty and Sandy. The family of five grew up in Avon, NY, where Diane graduated from Avon Central Schools in 1964. After high school, Diane met her husband Richard D. Baker while working at her father's custard stand in Churchville, NY. She attended college at West Virginia Wesleyan for 2.5 years before moving back to Rochester to marry Richard on January 13, 1967. The newly married couple took turns working and finishing school for a few years. Diane transferred her studies to SUNY Brockport where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature in 1971. After college, Diane worked at a series of banks as a financial analyst. While working at Manufacturers Hanover Trust, she returned to school at the Rochester Institute of Technology to earn her Masters in Business Administration. In 1982, Richard and Diane adopted a son, Matthew Baker. Several years later in 1987, they adopted a daughter, Jenny Baker. Diane retired in 2007 and enjoyed more time with her family and friends. She was known for her love of reading and knitting.
