Obituary of John Bates

May 15, 2014 at age 77 with his family by his side. Predeceased by father, William Bates & brother, Merle. Survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Lou; children, Marci (Everett) Piper, Mark (Debbie) Bates; grandchildren, Erin (Josh) Hunt, Seth Piper, Brad Bates, Cobi Piper; mother, Anne Bates; brothers, Donald (Noreen), Paul (Diane); sisters-in-law, Alice McFarlane & Betty (Duane) Peterson; several nieces, nephews & cousins. Jack was an educator for 32 years, Principal at Chestnut-Ridge Elementary School, active in his church, served others, and a graduate of Roberts Wesleyan College & SUNY Brockport. Visitation is 4-7 PM on Monday at the funeral home, 15 West Ave, Spencerport. Jack's funeral service will be celebrated 11 AM Tuesday at Pearce Memorial Church, 4322 Buffalo Rd, North Chili, NY 14514. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pearce Memorial Church, Roberts Wesleyan College, 2301 Westside Dr, Rochester, NY 14624, or Lighthouse Christian Camp, 9574 Somerset Dr, Barker, NY 14012 in Jack's memory.
