His first job was in a pizza shop and he worked in several other restaurants in his early 20's. From 1958 to 1961, William worked in a restaurant called Russell's Drive-In until it closed. After that, he was employed by the Waldorf Cafeteria. After then not having employment for many years, he was placed in the DePaul system and he worked for them, which he called "program". William loved coming home for the holidays. He would come home every Christmas eve, Thanksgiving, and would come to color Easter eggs. Williams loved to draw and to make necklaces and bracelets out of beads. He enjoyed all types of crafts. Some of his other favorite things were Western movies, especially the Lone Ranger. He used to talk of liking football and his favorite team was the Minnesota Vikings. Family and friends would best describe William as someone who had the biggest smile and the best laugh. He was a simple man, loved to shop, loved to eat, especially sweets, coffee, ice cream and spaghetti. William lived in Churchville for many years since moving there to a group home in 1981. When he first moved there, the home was an old Senator's house, a white mansion, which he loved because there was a fireplace in his room. William loved to walk the town. He will be greatly missed.
