Obituary of Louise Campbell

Louise Blowers Campbell, 85, passed away on September 28, 2014, with her daughter Bonnie Heather Campbell by her side. Born in Griffins Mills, NY on January 30, 1929 to the late Milton C. Blowers and Bessie Lester Blowers, Louise was the sixth of eight children in a family that lived in several parts of western New York during her childhood. On February 17, 1951 she married Everett J. Campbell, who remained her husband for 63 years. Louise earned degrees in English and library science from Roberts Wesleyan College, Rochester, NY and Florida State University. She served as Dean of Women, Reference Librarian and Archivist at Roberts Wesleyan, where she established an archives program and historical room. She also worked as a librarian at the Evangelical Biblical Seminary of Southern Africa; Kentucky's Campbellsville College, where she oversaw the building of a new library; Indiana's Bethel College; and California's Point Loma Nazarene College. In addition, she served for more than two decades on the Committee on Free Methodist History and Archives, where she helped create the Free Methodist Archival Program and the Oral History Program. Upon retirement, Louise and Everett moved to Surprise, AZ before relocating to Chicago, IL and, most recently, to Evanston, IL where they shared a house with their daughter and their friend Diana Schmück. Louise lived in over thirty locations during her lifetime and had a way of making wherever she was her home. A lover of books and of learning, Louise had an artistic eye and ear and a deep appreciation for beauty in all its forms, particularly in fine music and art. She found great joy in entertaining family and friends and in sharing stories, song, faith, prayer, and laughter. In addition to her husband and daughter, Louise is survived by numerous cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as three sisters-in-law (*). She was preceded in death by her seven siblings—Vernon (Eula) Blowers, Ethelyn "Dee" (George) Reed, Eldon (Zina Rennells*) Blowers, Genevieve (Keith) Graham, Lawrence (Leva*) Blowers, Lester (Mary Jane Wagner*) Blowers, and Lynette (William) Riggs.
