Obituary of Thomas Smith

Spencerport, NY. Peacefully passed away at age 83 on December 19, 2014. Predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Doris Smith of Friendship, NY. Survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Marian (Wallace), son David Smith and daughter in-law Tricia Andrews-Smith, daughter Kathryn Smith, sister Dorothy Smith, grandchildren, Samuel, Abigail and Jackson, and his beloved nieces and nephews. Tom retired from the New York Education Association in 1993 after a career dedicated to teaching and the advancement of public education. He received his Doctorate in Education from the University of Rochester in 1996. His later years were focused on his grandchildren, his favorite dog Cooper and cheering on the New York Yankees. Tom's family will receive visitors on Tuesday, Dec. 23 3:30-5:30 at Walker Brothers Funeral Home, 15 West Avenue Spencerport, NY 14559. In lieu of flowers, Tom would appreciate memorial donations to the community hospice home, Aurora House, P.O. Box 21, Spencerport, NY 14569.
