Obituary of Mary Virgo
Mary passed away peacefully in her home May 9, 2015 at the age of 101. She is predeceased by her husband Joseph Virgo & daughter Shirley Billotti. Mary is survived her daughter Judy DiNardo; grandchildren, Alisa (Mark) Mayo, John (Shelby) Billotti, Nick DiNardo, Michelle (Mike) McCoy; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Mary grew up in the Glide St. Neighborhood with her family. During her teen years she enjoyed going to dances with her brothers.
Mary was at her best on the dance floor. It has been said this is where she "communicated the best." While on the dance floor she seemed to get a little extra spunk in her step dancing to the likes of Frank Sinatra, Lawrence Welk or Ballroom Dancing music was being played.
She enjoyed baking, bowling, golfing and playing cards with family and friends.
Mary was very easy to get along with. She always had an approachable demeanor. It is no surprise that many sought her out to listen to their challenges as she was a great confidant who was always there for those she loved.
Mary was truly the matriarch in her family. She was a natural caregiver and her strong disposition made her a natural at it. She was truly special, even though she was strong she had a special way with those she cared about to feel love and nurtured.
Mary's appearance was always very important to her. Just as important was the manner in which she meticulously set her dining room table for her dinner guests. Her 7 course meals were a family favorite. She did this not just on special holidays but at every family gathering. The date on the calendar didn't impact her effort. Every Sunday dinner was a holiday in her eyes because she could share it with family and friends.
