Obituary of Thomas Fortunato

Formerly from Blauvelt NY: Saturday, February 27th, 2016 peacefully surrounded by his family. Thomas is predeceased by his wife Rita Fortunato and his son Anthony Fortunato. He is survived by his son Thomas (Jeannie) Fortunato; daughters Susan (John) Saladyga & Barbara (Larry Danehy) Fortunato; grandchildren, Lisa-Nicole (Philip) Sarnowski, Shane Danehy, Janelle (Fiance Dan Wakefield) Danehy & Justin (Stephanie) Danehy; Stephanie (Barry) Atlas, Thomas Fortunato, Nicholas Saladyga & great granddaughter Sienna Danehy & great grand-son Liam Danehy; sister Elizabeth Massoni. Thomas dedicated his life to his family and friends. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 - 1952. He worked for the N.Y. City Sanitation Police from 1956-1979. He began a second career at the Gulf International Bank, on Madison Ave, New York, NY where he worked as Security/Chauffeur for many years. The Fortunato family would like to thank the staff at the Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center for the tender loving care and support that they gave to Thomas and his family. The family will receive friends on Thursday March 3, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 at Joseph W. Sorce F.H. Inc.728 West Nyack Rd. West Nyack, NY (845) 358-4433. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday March 4, 2016 at 10 AM at St Catherine's Church, Western Highway, Blauvelt, NY. Interment Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY.
