Obituary of Lorijean Pillittere

Spencerport: Lorijean, 54, entered into eternal peace on July 1, 2013, surrounded by prayer and her loving family. She is predeceased by her father Edward, and brother Robert. She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Donald; her sons, Donald Joseph and David; daughter Julie; her mother, Josephine Annechino; her brother, Edward P. (Stacey Luther); sister, Dr. Paula (Dr. Michael) Giudici of Davenport, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (Miller) Annechino, Michelle (Rich) George, Jennifer (Matt) Korzelius; brothers-in-law, Joseph T. Pillittere Jr., James Baldwin; father-in-law, Joseph T. Pillittere Sr.; and many nieces and nephews. Lorijean received a BS degree from Cornell University and a Master's degree from the University of Rochester and served as a school counselor at Leo Bernabi Elementary School in Spencerport. Lorijean was a communicant at St. Pius X Church in Chili, and a Third Order Carmelite. Calling hours are from 4 to 8 on Friday July 5, 2013, at the funeral home, 15 West Avenue, Spencerport. Lorijean's funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 AM Saturday, July 6, 2013, at St. John the Evangelist Church, 55 Martha St., Spencerport. Private burial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cornell Catholic Community, PO Box 4026, Ithaca, NY 14852-9972 in Lorijean's memory. Lorijean grew up with 4 siblings in Spencerport where she attended school at St. John the Evangelist. Her childhood was spent playing piano, swimming, and making friends. She was always physically active and had an active imagination. She was a cheerleader, a member of the National Honor Society, and always felt her education was important, and she was a very loved student. Lorijean graduated from EJ Wilson high school and went on to get her BS in HDFS at Cornell University and her Masters degree at the University of Rochester. Her teaching career began at Wheatland Chili and she then moved on to Spencerport Middle School, followed by the Leo Bernabi Elementary School in Spencerport from where she retired in 2010. She met the man who would become her husband at a college grad party in Buffalo and they were later married at St. John The Evangelist church. Lorijean always enjoyed family events such as Julie's Cornell graduation, and family get-togethers by the pool. Some of Lorijean's favorite activities included gardening, bird watching, reading, sketching, and she was a Third Order Carmelite who was devoted to the Blessed Mother. She loved watching home shows, reading books that were faith based, and was known for saying "It's all good". Family and friends would best describe Lorijean as compassionate, selfless, supportive, loving, faith-filled, always knowing the right thing to say, and as someone who was dependable. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
