Jeff was born on July 13, 1968 in Rochester, NY. He was the first child of Marv & Pat Miles. They lived on Stony Point Rd in between Churchville and Spencerport from 1967 until 2010.
Jeff attended Churchville Chili Central Schools and graduated in 1986 with a Regents diploma. He attended the University of Buffalo where he received his degree in Archaeology. He had a few small jobs before he went to work for Tyco Electronics as a Materials Engineer, where he prided himself at never calling in sick. After many years, the plant closed and he took a new job at Coating Technologies, Inc where he stayed until most recently. He enjoyed this type of work where there are tight tolerances and was really proud of his innate ability to successfully plate a difficult batch of parts.
Jeff was very enthusiastic about music. He was known for his incredible love of music and especially for the band Led Zeppelin. He has more boot leg Zeppelin songs than most people have music on their IPods. A large part of his down time was spent in the pursuit of playing guitar. As most of you know, Jeff was a very quiet person. He never really liked to be the focus of attention. He was humble and kind, soft spoken and shy. But for all of his quiet and shy ways he loved to play the guitar for 1 person or 100. He enjoyed playing in local bands and devoted a large part of his time to those bands and their music. It is through his music that he has touched many of us.
Growing up, Jeff played high school soccer where he was elected as member of the All County, All State and Empire State games. He loved to play ice hockey, basketball, baseball, and football with his friends. He even took up golf as a kid and was very good at it.
He enjoyed fishing and took trips to Canada where he would open and close a family friend's cabin for the season with his dad. He was also a magnet for small children. They just loved him, especially his niece and nephew.
Jeff was a huge movie buff. He really liked kung fu and sci-fi movies. He loved comic books and has a vast collection of Flash comics. Jeff loved riding bicycles as a kid which turned into mini bikes and motorcycles. He also collected coins as a kid and developed this fascination from his grandmother. Playing video games was also a favorite past time and he enjoyed such first person shooter games as Doom and Quake. He also played FIFA soccer with his niece and nephew.
Jeff had an incredible smile and a great sense of humor which is why he was always laughing.
Within the last few years, he met his fiance, Carla. He was very happy and they enjoyed many things together. From eating out to watching movies and tv series at home. When Jeff proposed to Carla, he put glow-in-the-dark letters on the ceiling above her side of the bed that said "I love you Carla, marry me".
Family and friends would best describe Jeff as someone who was very thoughtful and would do anything for anyone who was close to him, even sacrificing himself to make others happy. He will be greatly missed.
