Obituary of Roger Sawyer

Gates: Passed away at age 85 surrounded by his family on October 19, 2014. Roger is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Patricia Sawyer; children, Nadine (Jack) Fiero, Connie Ohler, Curt (Laura) Sawyer, Rhonda (Paul) Russo; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. Adirondack born and raised, the outdoors was Roger's altar. Visitation is 3-7 PM Thursday at the funeral home, 15 West Ave, Spencerport where his funeral service will immediately follow at 7 PM. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to NYS Ranger School Alumni Association, ATTN; Gail Simmons, PO Box 48, Wanakena, NY 13695 in Roger's memory. Roger was married for 64 years to his high school sweetheart, Patricia, and they raised four children. He was a supportive and loving father who attended all of their concerts, sporting events, dance recitals and more. He continued to do the same for his 12 grandchildren. He was born and raised in the Adirondacks and loved the outdoors and nature. After moving his family to Rochester he still loved to hunt, fish, go camping and photograph all the wonders of nature. He worked at Kodak and bought just about every camera they ever made. He loved to hunt deer in the Southern Tier with his brother and best friend, Tom Sawyer. Roger had a good 85 years and would like to leave you with his favorite saying, "May your moccasins make happy tracks through many snows"
