Obituary of Richard Kent

Spencerport: December 21, 2014 at age 94. Predeceased by his son, Thomas Kent. Survived by his loving wife, Jean Kent; children, Mary (Karl) Schroeder, Jim (Kay Obierne) Kent, Kitty (Rev. Timothy) Meyer, Joe (Gina) Kent, Anne (Dan) Hull; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; sister, Ruth DeWalt; several nieces & nephews and dear friends. Visitation is Friday, January 9, 2015, 2-4 & 6-7:30 PM with a prayer service to immediately follow at Walker Brothers Funeral Home, 15 West Ave., Spencerport. Richard's funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 55 Martha St, Spencerport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Open Door Mission, PO Box 14236, Rochester, NY 14614 in Richard's memory. Richard met his lovely wife, Jean, through mutual friends. They were married at St. John the Evangelist Church. Richard was a devoted husband and father, and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. Richard drove the school bus and everyone who rode on his bus remembers him fondly. Richard loved going to reunions and enjoyed birthday parties. Some of his favorite spare-time activities were woodworking, traveling to Florida, and camping in Canadice. He loved to drive, especially in his HUPT mobile, and he was a member of the Smoke Chasers Camping Club. Richard loved music and, in addition to playing guitar, he had a large record collection. He most enjoyed Country Western, Big Band, and Lawrence Welk music. Richard was hard working, strong, soft-hearted, and always did the right thing. He was very helpful to others. Richard will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
