Obituary of Donald Morrison Clarke

Donald Morrison Clarke

SPENCERPORT – Donald Clarke died peacefully on September 21, 2018 at the age of 87. Predeceased by sister, Vera Oleanik and brother Albert Clarke. Survived by loving wife of 63 years, Carol H. Clarke; children, Jeffrey (Deborah) Clarke, Steven Clarke, Gordon (Kathryn) Clarke, Carolyn (Mark) Drotar; grandchildren, Grayson Blom-Clarke, David Clarke, Jessica (Nelson) Robles, Tori Clarke, Cameron Clarke, Jared Drotar, Adam Drotar, Susan (Will) Knepple; 5 great-grandchildren; sister in law, Ruth Clarke.

Don retired from the Brockport Central School District where he was an elementary, junior, and senior high art teacher. He eventually became the head of the Art Department for Brockport. He also enjoyed being an adjunct professor of photography at Keuka College during the time he and Carol lived on Keuka Lake.

Don was a professional photographer along with being a very talented artist of many forms; painting and sketching, stained glass, jewelry, and was an accomplished musician. He loved reading, storytelling, and researching his and Carol’s ancestry. That research led to a special binder, created for their children and grandchildren, that chronicled all he discovered.

Don had many hobbies besides ancestry, such as camping, travel, wine making, and good food. He and Carol were part of a Gourmet Group that has lasted 45 years! They traveled to Egypt, Israel, Nova Scotia, the Adirondack Mountains, and camped all over the US.

Family and friends will always remember Don for his smile, sense of humor, faith, and his love for his family. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Carol, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Don’s Celebration of Life will be Saturday, September 29 at 4:30 pm at Ogden Presbyterian Church, 2400 S. Union St., Spencerport, NY 14559. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Ogden Presbyterian Church in Don’s memory.
