Going way back to our time together in the Security and traffic division at the University, it was always a great pleasure to be in Joe's presence. Even we both of us chose different career paths at the mothership, we would unexpectedly cross paths in the medical center and that same feeling of warmth and kindness Joe brought with him was very refreshing. It is with a heavy heart that I learn of his passing now and send my sincere condolences to his family.
Our hearts and prayers go out to Lynn, Brian, Jake, Nick, family, and friends. Joe was the best and a beloved friend.
His presence always brightened the day. His perpetual sense of humor, good nature, and genuine interest in those around him,
were gifts to all of us. If there is the slightest consolation in tragedy, Joe spent his final day in this world
with family and friends happily enjoying one of his favorite activities- fishing.

I’m sending my deepest condolences to the entire Asermily family at this time. Although our interactions were few, I always remember Joe as being a kind, positive, and funny person. Thank you Joe, for welcoming my best friend into your family with open arms and for being the best grandpie to Jack and Max. We’ll always make sure they remember how amazing you were and how much you loved them.
Joe would always say “ What’s up Sha ray-ray”knowing my name is Sheria lol.. He was the BEST!!!! Team Player that I have ever worked with in the OR. Any time I needed to stay late to finish cases with him, he had no problem calling my mom to say,” hi mom, can Sha Ray-ray stay today? “Can you get the baby” lol is she loved it every minute. He then would let her know that she was the best mom and he thanked her for her support for allowing me to stay.. Regardless of his mood, just his smile…or his hand on your shoulder to say, “it’ll be ok”, really did make it okay!! I thank Joe, for allowing me to know him, and for him to be my friend!!
I worked UR Security with Joe while we were both young and handsome. One day he shared his lunch with me. It was a simple tuna salad sandwich, but it was the most amazing tuna I'd ever tasted. He laughed, looked me right in the eye and said, "It's Red Hot. That's what makes it good." I don't know why I remember that so clearly, but I've made my lunch with Red Hot ever since.
After he became a nurse, when I brought bad guys in to Strong to get patched up, I always looked forward to bumping into him when he came upstairs.
