Obituary of Katherine McCormick

McCormick, Katherine M. Churchville: May 5, 2016. Katherine is predeceased by her father, Edward V. McCormick; Grandparents, Sonja E. Arndt, George McCormick, Alene Fraley. She is survived by her mother, Patricia A. McCormick; brothers, Brian McCormick, George (Kyla) McCormick; sisters, Julia and Mary McCormick; grandfather, Charles Fraley; aunts and uncles, Laura Rounds, Linda Martin, Lisa Gibbons, Charlene Delap, Charles (Mary) Fraley Jr., Raymond (Ashley) Fraley, Ingrid Scharlau, John (Chris) McCormick and Anna-Marie McCormick. Katherine was born on December 21st, 1987. The first of the McCormick girls, Kate was a shy child, girly, smart, always on the go and fiercely independent. When Katherine felt it was time for her to act a certain way to be a ''big girl," she made it happen. In high school, she was a Renaissance woman. Kate was a scholar athlete, earning a top ten spot in her graduating class. She helped lead Byron-Bergen to the Class B NYS Volleyball championships in both 2005 and 2006. Because of her athletic performance in those games, she was also named to the All-State Volleyball team both of these years. Kate was an artist and dramatist, dear to the Byron-Bergen Music community. She sang with the Singing Silhouettes, her church choir and performed in four school musicals. Kate earned a degree in International Marketing and Textile Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology with Magna Cum Laude honors. During her years there, she fell in love with New York City, which she longed to return to throughout her life. She worked as a personal assistant and as a lead on several international marketing teams. During this time, Kate traveled both across the U.S. and abroad. She spent time living in Southern California. In her private time, she played with her animals and worked out. Kate was at home in the outdoors, whether biking, hiking, kayaking or gardening. In more recent years, she moved to Batavia to be closer to home. Katherine's visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 PM & 7-9 PM at the funeral home, 21 South Main St, Churchville, NY. Her funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 AM at St. Brigid's Church, 18 Gibson St, Bergen, NY 14416. Interment in St. Vincent DePaul Cemetery, Private. Please omit flowers.
