Dear Mark, Eric and Wendy, It was very difficult to read of your grandmothers passing in the paper last week. So many times a friend and I have wondered if Mary was still living. I know if we knew, we would have visited her in the nursing home. My memoires of both Mary and Doyle are memoires of my childhood with your precious (my best friend growing up..your mom) are too many to put into words. The pajama parties, the weekend stays at Silver Lake and the feeling that I was part of your family. Your mom being the only child, loved to go to my house when we were teenagers because so much was happening with 5 siblings..me on the other hand couldn't wait to go to her home with just parents and quiet.
Growing up in a small town where we could walk everywhere was a definite plus. Your grandparents were like my own grandparents and my love for them never weakened over the years. When we both married we still remained friends and visited each others homes while raising our precious children. It was sad when we drifted apart for private reasons. Even though we did not see each other as much, our love or friendship never weakened.
When your mom passed away all us girls piled into the car for the funeral to be with Mary and Doyle. Still, after all of these years my heart aches for the lovely friend that was taken so early. We did visit Mary and Doyle after they moved to Brockport to let them know that our friend was not forgotten. Even now I can not throw away pictures of our pajama parties, a heart warming keepsake. You have lost a real GEM..make that three gems, your mom being a diamond. I know you have your own precious memoires of your mom, your grandparents and no one can take them away from you. Hold them tight in your heart. I miss your mom..friends never forget friends and parents should never lose a child, nor a child a parent when they are so young. Your mom, grandparents touched many lives. I am very blessed that they touched mine. My love and sympathy to all of you. Joanne
