Although I attended Maggie's funeral, I was unable to stay to share my condolences and memories. Maggie was a joy in my life at Buffalo Rd. where she was on another team across the hall from my child protective team. Her bright smile and invitation to walk on lunch breaks helped me deal with the stress of the job. She walked very fast, and we covered a lot of ground both literally and figuratively in lively conversations. We brought armfuls of dried flowers back to our offices one day which we used to make arrangements. She inspired me to paint small tables which we found discarded along the way. Such fun in decorating and stress reduction! Her greatest contribution in my mind, however, was in painting and decorating the dreary basement room where foster care visitation took place. She made it so inviting!
Socially, Maggie held a hipertufa day at her home for the gardening club at work. It was almost as much fun as the Corn Hill Christmas Home Tour with her and Jim and having dinner at their home with Ellen and Doug Werts. I regret that time and retirement took us on separate paths. I don't need to tell you that she made her mark here on earth and is undoubtedly enjoying her final reward with her source, whose presence she was fortunate enough to know in this life.
