Predeceased by his father Carl; in-laws, John & Harriet Giehrl, Special God Mother, Ella Briskie. Wayne is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years Lynn Voehringer; daughter, Rikki Lynn (Chris Carlton) Voehringer; Mother Shirley Voehringer; sisters, Sharon (Bill) Youngman, Kathy (Phil) Cubiotti & Donna Voehringer; sister in law Joanne (Joey) Miano; Aunt and Uncle, & many nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends. Visitation will be held SUNDAY June 25, 1- 4 PM at the funeral home,15 West Avenue Spencerport, NY. Interment at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please perform an act of kindness in his memory, enjoy the simple things in life and cherish each day.

Skip was born into a loving family of his dad, Carl, mom, Shirley and three sisters - Sharon, Kathy and Donna. While living in the City of Rochester he enjoyed neighborhood life, playing with his sisters and friends and connecting with elder neighbors on his street. At age 5, his family moved to Ogden. Skip fell in love with nature, exploring the woods with friends in search of turtles, frogs and other wildlife. He spent much of his early years helping out on the McKinney Farm, milking cows and goats, and driving tractors, bailing hay, and enjoyed being a hard-working helping hand on the farm.
At an early age, Skip started what would be his lifelong passion...anything motorized. He was responsible for mowing the lawn on a riding lawn mower and quickly transitioned to riding mini-bikes, dirt bikes, drag bikes, and snowmobiles while teaching himself how to modify and repair anything with a motor.
Skip and his family enjoyed camping, and weekends were spent piling the family into the station wagon, hauling a travel trailer to many camping destinations. Lifelong friends and memories were made with the Hitch-N-Go camping group. They established camping roots at Indian Falls where, as a teenager, Skip worked during the summers as a lifeguard and doing work at the campground. It was there that he met his future wife, Lynn, at age 14, telling her at that time he was going to marry her.
Before he was old enough to drive, Skip would take a bus to Buffalo on weekends, after the camping season ended, to be with Lynn until he obtained his license and could drive on his own. Engaged at 20 and married at 21, they soon began what would be the next 36 years of building a wonderful life together.
Skip chose to follow in his father's footsteps in pursuing a field in tool & die. He was fortunate to have been mentored by the best in the field, and become a master machine builder. Skip was respected, sought out, and admired for his abilities. Early on in married life, one of his part-time jobs was at Pelican Marina where Skip learned to restore boats and where his fondness of being on the water began. Weekends during the summer months were spent on Lake Ontario in his speed boat, enjoying the water.
Skip's life changed forever in 1992 with the birth of Rikki Lynn. He was overcome with pride and Rikki Lynn became what would be the center of his world. Skip spent every day with Rikki Lynn and cherished the time playing "store" and board games, carving pumpkins, enjoying Christmas, and celebrating her birthdays by bringing in ponies to ride and hosting what would become yearly pool parties, water slides on the hill, and the infamous whipped cream wars in celebration of her birthday milestones. His love of anything motorized, resulted in Rikki Lynn having go-carts, ATVs and, when old enough to drive, a vehicle that ensured her safety.
Skip was a family man, a man's man, and readily offered his help to anyone in need. He was happiest doing chores around the house and especially being outside — cutting log loads, splitting wood, planting vegetable and flower gardens, and most recently a grapevine while enjoying nature around him. Skip loved to practice guitar and drums, and snowboarding with Rikki Lynn. Skip will be remembered for having infinite energy — he never stopped — making the most of each moment. He would insist on washing the cars of family and friends who had come to visit. Skip loved his dog, Duke, and tirelessly walked him around the yard hundreds of times so Duke would eventually learn to be without a leash.
A lifelong dream that Skip had was to buy a lake house, one that would guarantee Rikki Lynn, her boyfriend, Chris Carlton and friends, and eventually her future family would be sure to visit. That house was found and they were preparing to move, however, plans were cut short when Skip was diagnosed with cancer.
Skip was determined to beat the cancer, and fought like hell to the very end. Some say he was called upon to help in a greater cause. Those of us on earth will never know. What we do know for certain is that each of us are fortunate to have had Skip in our lives, and are grateful for the opportunity to have been blessed with being in his presence during this particular lifetime.
