The countless stories Mike shares of you have given me a sense of knowing. Thank you for all of it.

When I was young, my father died at the age of 31, leaving my mother, Laura alone, 8 months pregnant with 4 young children in the middle of the inner city. To say life was hard is an understatement, but my mom loved us with all of her heart and fought all the way to the end of her life at 65 years of age. My Aunt Arlene and Uncle Gene were life saviors as they visited us often, and offered her friendship and love which sustained her throughout her life. Uncle Gene was an incredible man who did whatever he could to help others. I loved him dearly, and I thanked him for everything he did for us when I was younger. He knew how much I loved him and cared about him. Arlene was my mother's best friend to the very end. They spoke every day of their lives until the end when my mom became too ill with cancer. My mother spoke of them often with love. You cannot replace that kind of love, but you can remember it, and try to carry it out in your own life. Uncle Gene has always been an inspiration to me for the kind of Christian he was. He never spoke an ill word of anyone in front of me. He was a true example of a man who practiced Christianity every day of his life. I will always remember him and love him eternally.

I wish that I could have attended his funeral which was private, however the COVID prevented us from traveling, as well as my husband's job which he luckily still has even though dozens of his co-workers were layed off. I spent most of two days crying for this man. My peace is that I know that he is in heaven with the rest of our loved ones spreading his smile and joy to everyone.

What a precious man our Uncle Gene was. He was so kind and loving to everyone. I loved his sense of determination, humor, and the gentle quiet spirit that he had. I always knew how much he loved his family and ours. He will be greatly missed.Joyfully, we know we will see him again in Heaven. We send our best, love and prayers to all the Dunn children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. May the Good Lord hold you close and sustain you with many good memories.

So many memories, so lost for words..sadness has taken up space around me today as I think about a man considered to be family. 35 years ago he along with his wife opened his home to me and my two small babies and from that day on I have loved them with all my heart along with their children and one whom is married to my sister. What an extraordinary man Mr. Dunn was all through the years of knowing him, very kind and loving and a joy to be around. I just want to express to the entire Dunn family how lucky I feel to have shared a little bit of his life. I also would like to say I love you all and may God bring peace and understanding to all of your hearts as this man lived a very long life with so much love around him. I will forever have him in my heart as well as I say Happy birthday today to someone I was blessed to call family. So sorry for your loss, deeply deeply sorry!
In my prayers, Deborah Jean Perkins ❤
