To all of Joan's family,
I am so saddened to hear of your mother's passing Ron, Meg, Anna and Mary as I am realizing that she was as much a mentor to me as a friend and colleague. She taught right across from the West Ave. art room when all fourth and fifth graders from both Northwood and Village Schools were housed there from 1984-87. I have humorous memories of her fifth grade class sharing "our" hallway with their Cabbage Patch Dolls with the boys feeling honored and "cool" to be asked to babysit by one of the girls. I'm sure that Joan had turned the one day into a lesson on responsibility and caring. She offered approaches to handling a variety of teaching approaches which this early educator welcomed especially due to the way she managed to smile and sweeten a sour moment.
What a wonderful life you have shared with her as brother, child, and grandchild. So wonderful that she got to see you all
grown with children of your own...even giving her great-grandchildren! We will cherish our memories as you will with many
blessings from above. She and her, Ron are now together. Peace be with you all, Sue Genthner
